Jute Leaf Tea

Category:

Description

Jute was once called the ‘golden fiber’ of Bangladesh. Around 80 percent of jute was produced in this country. But with the course of time, jute has started losing its golden days. But the present government and private entrepreneurs are trying to bring back the good days of jute. It is interesting that a factory is going to set up to produce tea from jute leaves.
The construction of the factory with a cost of Tk 1.16 crore for producing ‘green tea’ was inaugurated in Sarishabari Upazila of Jamalpur on Friday last. State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam laid the foundation stone of the new venture.
Mirza Azam said tea from jute leaves is going to be added to the tea industry. It will boost the jute and tea industries. A good number of people will get job opportunities. We are trying to diversify the use of jute with a view to bringing back the golden days of jute. New technologies are being invented.”
